Lake Coniston to be more precise, infamous because of Donald Campbell.
On January 4th 1967, whilst attempting to break the world water speed record again, he achieved a run of 297 m.p.h. on his first leg, and was travelling at over 300 m.p.h. on the return leg when his boat Bluebird flipped over backwards and he crashed to his death.
